Eddie Bonnell, Artistic Director
For Eddie Bonnell, a love of and talent for ballroom dancing came as something of a surprise. After a lifetime of pursuing other interests in music and martial arts, he started dancing with a beginning ballroom class at UGA. He was hooked. And, because of his ability to learn intricate movements and musical patterns quickly, he was almost imme-diately recruited to the University of Georgia Ballroom Performance Group. He danced with BPG as a student for three years, performing, teaching and choreographing nu-merous performance pieces. During his membership, he served as Treasurer and President and performed at the famed Cloister Hotel on Sea Island. After graduating from UGA in 2004 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Eddie continued working with BPG through guest performances and choreography rehearsals. He also continued teaching ballroom through the UGA Center for Continuing Education, the UGA Department of Recreational Sports, and the UGA Ballroom Dance Club. Currently, in his non-dancing time, he is the Operations Manager for Europa Securities LLC in Atlanta, where he resides. Eddie is pleased to accept the position of Director of BPG and looks forward to working with the student officers to create one of the most dynamic and well-trained groups to date. A Word From Our Director"Hello from the University of Georgia Ballroom Performance Group! I'm so pleased to work with the more than 20 talented students in the 2007 / 2008 season. This group has a long tradition of excellence, and this year promises to be one of the best yet. We al-ready have plans for several shows both in and out of Athens and have scheduled our annual showcase, Ballroom Magic, for January 24-26. Please mark your calendar! Athens has many opportunities for dance, including BPG-sponsored ballroom dance parties on the first and third Fridays of the month. The parties, held at 8 p.m. in UGA's New Dance Theater or Memorial Hall, will feature Latin rhythms, Swing music and tradi-tional tunes for Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep. Members of BPG will teach a beginning dance lesson one hour before the party. Visit this website for updates or sign up for weekly email updates. As the director of the BPG, I thank you for your interest in BPG. See you on the dance floor!!" - Eddie Bonnell, Director
